Swan Lake @ Sunaparanta

Sunaparanta – Goa Centre for the Arts in association with Child’s Play India Foundation presents a screening of the Bolshoi and Kirov Ballet in ‘Swan Lake’ on Monday, the 20th of December at 6.30 pm. The duration is 111 mins.

‘Swan Lake’ is one of the most loved ballets of all time. It has the winning blend of Tchaikovsky’s ravishing music, a gripping fable of tragic romance, and a marvellous opportunity for dazzling choreography.

This performance, featuring the combined stars of the Bolshoi and Kirov Ballet is a classic. The perfect treat in the run-up to Christmas! Or indeed at any time of the year.

Open to all. No entry charge. Please refer to the poster for more details.

  1. This is amazing. It brings back memories of being taken to Gomant Vidya Niketan in Margao many, many years ago by my mother when a similar performance(very rare in those days for Goa) of The Swan Lake was staged there. She and a group of pals who had together founded Kalanjali(a dance institution) were instrumental in bringing it to Goa. I recall being mesmerized and the feeling of seeing something magical occur never really left me. Later, my mother, in a similar creative feat brought Father Barbosa(a rarity in those days again, A Bharat Natyam perfoming Father/Priest) to the same venue to perform “The Life of Christ”. Sorry, for waxing nostalgic, but those were the days the art scene was nascent in Goa and yet very, vibrant, homegrown and spearheaded by a few individuals determined to nurture and cultivate the arts. I’m sure today, Goa, is bustling with opportunities for artists of every ilk and for a culture lover must be a great place to be.

My mum would’ve certainly loved to make it to this performance too but she just yesterday left on a short holiday.

    Thanks for putting this up.
